We are updating the platform

The Nature-based Solutions Initiative case study platform is temporarily offline while we undertake a substantial revision.

Our understanding of what constitutes high-integrity nature-based solutions has continued to develop. Alongside evidence of benefits for biodiversity, climate resilience and people, we now place greater emphasis on how NbS are governed; whose rights, knowledge and authority shape them; how labour, risks and benefits are distributed; and whether they support equitable, enduring relationships between people and the wider living world.

We are therefore reviewing both the cases included on the platform and the way they are described and assessed. The revised platform will give much greater attention to ecological integrity, governance and rights, justice and equity, relational approaches to stewardship, and gender responsiveness, while being clearer about the strength and limitations of the evidence available for each case.

Our aim is to create a more rigorous and useful resource for learning about what high-integrity NbS can look like in different ecological, social and cultural contexts, including where practice is still evolving and where important tensions or evidence gaps remain.
